Endometrial Pathology

The endometrium is the lining of the uterine cavity, which thickens each month in preparation for pregnancy. If pregnancy doesn’t occur, the endometrium sheds during menstruation.

Many women suffer a variety of diseases of the endometrium, which can cause great discomfort, and can sometimes cause problems in conceiving.

Endometriosis is one of the most serious conditions which causes women the greatest discomfort; in the majority of cases, it causes infertility and requires surgical treatments and Assisted Reproduction techniques to be performed.

Accurate diagnosis is possible using an ultrasound scan, hysteroscopy and/or biopsy of the endometrium.
